Love and Logistics
A Couples Retreat in Hawaii
Prioritize your relationship!
With so many work commitments and time away at work, combined with the constant logistics conversations, you may have lost sight of the importance of your partner and your relationship. Many couples report that their partner has started to feel more like a roommate then a romantic partner. This can be attributed to how often you talk logistics. Who is picking up whom, what birthday parties are this weekend, what is for dinner? The kid’s calendar has become more important then your date nights. What if, instead, you began to prioritize your time as a couple? What if you start to give your relationship as much time, energy and attention as you do to your job or business or logistics? Imagine creating meetings on your shared calendar where you scheduled time to connect with your partner daily, weekly, quarterly and annually. You would be putting logistics in a specific place while constructing rituals that build up the foundation of your relationship. Friendship, intimacy, fun, respect and appreciation will flourish in this environment. Managing conflict will feel less intense and challenging due to the increased connection and positive sentiment you have built. In this type of relationship you can again feel all the feelings you did the first time you kissed your spouse.
This retreat will help you to create new rituals while developing a plan to ensure that you will stick with these new rituals. I would hate for you to leave with all this momentum to only forget about it a few weeks later. You will begin to focus again on dreaming, having fun together and embarking on new adventures. This retreat will help you move past the blocks that have stopped you from connecting with your partner. It is important to understand how each of you can become the best partner you can be. Why not do it while relaxing in one of the most beautiful places in the world? Make the commitment today to reap the relationship benefits!

About Beth Wylie
My passion in therapy has always been around helping couples. The joy I feel when I see a couple deepen their connection or when I see them begin to actually enjoy one another again is why I do this work. While I love working in my private practice, I have had a desire to work in a more intensive environment to help couples achieve the connection and joy at a more rapid pace. To be able to go there and stay there and work through the blocks all in one day vs. a few weeks or months (and sometimes years). This intensive, marathon method has been shown to have a greater impact in regards to long term changes. My training is from the Gottman Institute. I will be using the Gottman Method throughout the retreat by using exercises, intervention and providing research around relationship satisfaction and conflict management. I have worked with hundreds of couples in my private practice. Attachment and Imago therapy also guide me in how I approach and work with couples and I will bring that insight and knowledge to this retreat. I have a profound love for working with couples and a strong desire to help couples reach goals for their relationship that they set out to achieve. While this retreat will be intense, I am also pretty funny, so be prepared to laugh a lot!
So why a Retreat vs. weekly therapy sessions?
Weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions are great to build rapport and develop and strengthen relations with each other. However, the opportunity to engage in a couples retreat and small group therapy without the weekly distractions of work, kids, outside activities, holidays and Summer vacations allows for deeper connections and quicker progress. I have watched as couples finally opened up with only 5 minutes left in our hour session. we have to then wrap up without even really addressing this issue and the couples rushes back out to their hectic life. They usually do not talk about what was brought in that session over the next week or two and the partner who brought it up may no longer have the courage to discuss it again, or worse, they are resentful that their partner did not bring it up over the the last week. Having the time to focus on each other exclusively; creating a plan that is realistic for boosting the relationship can help to develop even greater satisfaction and deeper connection. You will essentially be receiving 6 months worth of therapy in 3 days. Plus, Hawaii in February, yes please!
